Abhilash Thapliyal: Few directors stay calm amid chaos

0 77

Actor and content creator Abhilash Thapliyal, popularly known as Muffler Man, his virtual avatar, shot to fame with the recently released, Aspirants. He is now set to feature in Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari’s Faadu, along with Pavail Gulati and Sayami Kher.

“Playing the part of Roxie was a new experience. This character’s perception of the world is different from mine. For me, Faadu is a poetic love story. Every character in the series is a poet in his or her own right, in one way or the other way. I am never [swayed by] the length of my character. What matters to me is the spin that he can give to the narrative,” says the actor, who bagged the part only two days before the project rolled.

Thapliyal heaps praise on Tiwari’s style of filmmaking, and finds her ability to “stay calm amid chaos” noteworthy. “Once when an AD was shouting on the set, she politely asked him to refrain from it. It is a rarity in our industry to have such directors.  Her ‘sab ho jayega, shanti rakho’ attitude is something I admire and want to emulate.”

With the cast members’ camaraderie on screen being vital to the narrative, Thapliyal says it was essential for the actors to spend time together, behind the scenes. “I have known Pavail [since a while], so there was already a certain level of comfort. But I had not met Saiyami before this project. They are both powerful actors. We would constantly discuss our characters, their background, and why they do what they do in the show.”
