Aspects Of The Show That Make No Sense

The first season of Hawkeye is in the bag and speculations of a possible follow-up are in the air. Amidst all this excitement, many fans are theorizing where the show could go next and what unresolved complications need to be addressed.

What is in store for the MCU now with Yelena forgiving Clint for Natasha’s death, Laura Barton admitting to being a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent, and Clint finally spending some time with his family in peace? We may not get all the answers we want, but let’s put these questions out there and try to work them out.

What Happened to the Avengers Tower?

Hawkeye-Avengers-1

The Avengers tower that loomed over New York City is such a striking visual, so it’s shocking to find out that somebody went ahead and bought the building. Clint briefly mentions it’s been bought, but the who and why of the mystery remains unsolved.

Some theories seem to suggest that Kingpin is the buyer of the tower, given his appearance at the end of episode 5, “Ronin”. This could mean trouble if the Avengers Tower is in the wrong hands. Some also say it was bought out by Reed Richards in order to set up the highly-anticipated upcoming Fantastic Four. Even Norman Osborne’s name was thrown out given his recent appearance in the MCU, but given the events of No Way Home, it’s highly unlikely. Looks like we’ll need a word from Pepper Potts to wrap up this mystery!

When did Bishop get the Pym Particle Arrow?

Hawkeye-Pym-Arrow-1

In a humorous moment in episode 6 of Hawkeye, Kate Bishop fires a Pym Particle Arrow at a Trust-A-Bro truck. Rather than crashing into her and Clint to cause a fiery and deadly mess, the duo’s truck shrinks down to essentially a tiny toy car version that veers away.

This is an amusing and cool moment, but it leads one to wonder how Bishop managed to get her hands on such technology that’s ahead of even Clint — and what other connections she could have.

Who is Mockingbird?

Mockingbird-1

Mockingbird served as Clint’s love interest throughout the series, though we never got to know her true identity. However, in the Hawkeye comic books, she is known as Agent 19. The character was portrayed by Adrianne Palicki on the ABC series Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. under the name Bobbi Morse, solidifying her as a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent.

However, when Clint gives his wife Laura Barton a Rolex, she flips it over and that is when we see the S.H.I.E.L.D. emblem with the number 19. This could indeed be a subtle hint that Laura Barton and Mockingbird are the same people. However, the answer to this remains one of the biggest mysteries of the series.

Is Kingpin Dead?

Kingpin-Dead-1

Episode 6 of Hawkeye went out with a bang, quite literally. When Maya Lopez – AKA Echo – confronted Kingpin to avenge the death of her father. Echo shoots Kingpin, killing him… supposedly.

We never got to see the moment where Echo killed Kingpin, so it leaves one to wonder if Kingpin is actually dead, and could we see more of him? Considering his very brief appearance in Hawkeye, it could be possible that he’ll make a return…eventually.

Will Clint Pass the Torch To Kate Bishop?

Clint-Kate-1

Hawkeye has been trying to get out of his superhero business ever since Captain America: Civil War, but it seems trouble keeps on coming his way no matter how hard he fights it. With his Ronin storyline complete Kate acting as his sidekick throughout the series, Clint is finally given a chance to retire his bow and arrow and put the past behind him.

Doing this will also make Kate Bishop the new “Hawkeye”, Clint opting to mentor her which will pay off the student-teacher dynamic they shared. If Hawkeye gets renewed for a second season, this could be the direction they are heading towards.

Why Was Lauren Barton’s Watch Stolen?

Hawkeye-Watch-1

In the Hawkeye season finale, we find out that the S.H.I.E.L.D.-branded Avengers Compound watch stolen by the Tracksuit Mafia belonged to Laura Barton. This brings up the question as to why this was stolen in the first place. It’s possible that Echo knew the watch belonged to the wife of Ronin, the man she was hunting because he killed her family. Furthermore, Clint explained to Kate Bishop that the watch belonged to someone he worked with. Is he implying that Laura, his wife, used to be a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent as well.

Finally, Kate reveals that Echo knew Hawkeye’s family names because of the watch, but it’s never clear how she was able to decipher such information. The watch was a strong motivator for Clint to fight against Kingpin and his cronies, but there are just far too many unsolved threads connected to Echo and the watch. We can only hope that this will be explained in a second season.
