Bollywood actor Yuvika Chaudhary on Monday joined the investigation in connection with allegedly using offensive remarks against Scheduled Castes on a social media platform. The actress, who was booked under the SC/ST Act, was later granted interim bail by the Punjab and Haryana High Court.

“My client has joined the investigation as per the guidelines given by the High Court and she is on interim bail now in a case of alleged offensive remarks against Scheduled Castes on a social media platform,” said Ashok Bishnoi, lawyer of actress Yuvika Chaudhary.

A case was filed against her by the complainant Rajat Kalsan in the police station town of Hansi, Haryana under the Scheduled Castes and Tribes Atrocities Act, for using the word ‘Bh**gi’ by Bollywood actor Yuvika Chaudhary in her blog. In his complaint, Kalsan alleged that the actor made some derogatory and objectionable remarks about the Scheduled Caste community in the video.

For the unversed, it was in May this year, days after ‘Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah’ actor Munmun Dutta apologised for using a casteist slur in one of her videos, TV star Yuvika Chaudhary too was found guilty of doing the same. In a vlog posted by her, the actor had used a term by saying ‘she looks like them’ which did not go well with people on the Internet. Soon after ‘Arrest Yuvika Choudhary’ had started trending on Twitter and people slammed the actor left right and centre.

Following the social media uproar, Yuvika had issued an apology stating she didn’t know the meaning of the word. While apologising, Yuvika stated, “Hi guys, I didn’t know the meaning of that word that I used in my last vlog. I didn’t mean to hurt anyone and I can never do that to hurt someone. I apologise to each and everyone, I hope you understand. Love you all.”

Later, even Yuvika’s husband and TV star Prince Narula took to his Instagram and issued an apology citing he was part of the vlog and equally guilty as his wife.
