The Indian film industry has seen several renowned models make a transition into the acting world and achieve success here as well. Be it John Abraham, Aishwarya Rai, Priyanka Chopra or Arjun Rampal, al of them have one thing in common that they all began their careers as models. Today these people are some of the biggest names in the Hindi film industry and the one thing that actor Gaurav Arora has in common with them all is that his origin in showbiz also lies in modeling. Recently, the actor got into an exclusive conversation with Bollywood Bubble where he spoke about how the profession actually affected his career as an actor.

While the industry has evolved today, there was a point in time where the general notion was that models can’t act or the pretty faces only know how to look pretty on screen. But success stories like Aishwarya and Priyanka’s broke that myth. When asked how the process of shedding that image of a good looking face has been for him, Gaurav Arora shared an interesting anecdote. “I’ve got nothing to do with how I look, it’s from my mom-dad. So, if someone thinks I look good, I have my mom-dad to thank for that. But apart from that, I had a conversation with my director (Oni Sen) on the sets of Asur. He had this notion before they cast me (that models can’t act), but on the last day of my shoot for season 2, I was chatting with him and he said, ‘I am so glad that it (Gaurav joining the show) happened and I have told all my colleagues how wrong I was and how you have blown me away.’ So, when you hear that from the director you respect and want to associate with again and again, it’s like a pat on your back to move forward. It’s taken a lot of time and also, it has been a learning experience for me to shed that image and to be perceived and to be taken seriously as an actor. It’s changing for sure,” he said.

Gaurav made a name for himself on the OTT platform with shows like Broken But Beautiful 2 and Asur, and recently he had the release of his latest web show Aadha Ishq, for which he has received some rave reviews. Up next too, the actor has some interesting work in the pipeline and it will be interesting to see how he shows different aspects of his craft in that.
