Henry Cavill Wraps Filming on Enola Holmes 2

0 76

We’ll be seeing Henry Cavill back as Sherlock Holmes soon enough as the actor has personally announced that he’s finished with filming his scenes for Enola Holmes 2. Released on Netflix last year, Enola Holmes follows Millie Bobby Brown (Stranger Things) as the teenage sister of the famous detective. It was a big hit for the streamer, which prompted Netflix to order a sequel, and with a new post on Instagram, Cavill has confirmed that he’s wrapped filming.

In the video footage, Henry Cavill says that it’s his last day of filming Enola Holmes 2, and he’s spending the end of his wrap day with a solo jog in the night. Cavill laments how maybe he shouldn’t have gone for a run as it’s so dark and chilly, but he was determined to get out there anyway and get it done. He hopes this can help inspire others to follow through with their own goals, encouraging anyone sitting at home thinking about doing the same to just get out there and do it, noting, “You won’t regret it.”

“He’s going to be the Sherlock we know in the sense that to the rest of the world he can be aloof and cold, but with Enola he had to have an emotional connection,” Cavill said of his version of Sherlock Holmes in Enola Holmes, per GQ. “That was key – and something different than we’ve had in previous Sherlocks. [It was] a lot more emotional to begin with, so we pared it back, and we said, ‘alright, let’s not make it too emotional’.”

“I was like, ‘Oh, yeah, I’ll just do one movie, like, obviously…’ and then as soon as I went on set and I played [Enola], I fell in love with her, and she became part of my heart,” Cavill’s co-star Millie Bobby Brown separately told Entertainment Weekly after the original was released last year, making it obvious right away she was hoping for a sequel. “I always said I loved playing Eleven [on Stranger Things] because I didn’t just do one thing and then stop playing her. I love that I can continually play her, and with the Enola book series… I really am optimistic about the future. I’m so looking forward to [hopefully] getting back to work.”

Enola Holmes was directed by Harry Bradbeer and written by Jack Thorne. Along with Henry Cavill and Millie Bobby Brown, the movie stars Sam Claflin, Helena Bonham Carter, Louis Partridge, and Burn Gorman. It was an instant hit for Netflix viewers, securing the biggest opening day audience for the streamer in 2020 with around 76 million households watching the movie in its first month of release. Critics couldn’t get enough either, as it sits at a high 91% fresh score on Rotten Tomatoes.

Considering that success, it was no shock when Netflix ordered production on Enola Holmes 2 to begin. Bradbeer returned to the director’s chair with a new screenplay from Thorne. Images of Henry Cavill on the set were previously released, and now with his filming wrapped, let’s hope an official look at his return isn’t too far off. You can watch the first movie on Netflix.
