At 14, Eric Kilburn Jr. is already 6’ 10” tall and he wears a size 23 shoe, which only exists as custom-made.

Most men’s shoe lines stop at size 13 or 14.  The average American male shoe size is 10.5.

According to The Daily Mail, the biggest shoes the young man could find were far too small and he had been suffering blisters and foot pain as a result. They had been made for him at great expense ($1500 U.S. a pop) and he grew out of them.

Then his mother Rebecca, 36, sent up a plea for help. Sportswear brand Under Armour responded  is now set to gift the towering teen with a pair of custom-made sneakers.

They will also make the avid football player a pair of cleats.

A 3D rendering of the teen’s feet was created so a mold could be created and bespoke shoes made for him — perfect fit guaranteed.

Under Armour’s senior director of Footwear Development, Robb Cropp, said Kilburn Jr. had the biggest foot he’d ever seen, and that was over a 30 year career in footwear.

Kilburn Jr. has expressed how thrilled he is is to finally have shoes that fit. His mom says the whole experience has restored her faith in humanity.

Puma has also stepped up to help the teen with new shoes, and an Italian maker, Mauri, has offered to make dress shoes for Kilburn, which he’ll need for prom and graduation.

In answer to the most obvious questions: No, Kilburn Jr. does not have an endocrine disorder. Tall though he is, photos show he isn’t exactly towering over his parents. There’s obviously height in his genes.

And also no — he does not play basketball. His sport is football.

A GoFundMe has been started for the family, as it’s likely Kilburn Jr. (not to mention his younger brother) has not yet reached adult height or shoe size.
