Round one began with both men exchanging attempted jabs before KSI landed an early hard right hand.

Fournier was on the canvas within the opening minute, but no knockdown was scored as it was the result of a throw by KSI when they clinched.

The 40-year-old complained about punches to the back of the head and caused a break in the action.

KSI had Fournier on the back foot and expended a lot of energy on dramatic footwork as he chased him around the ring, while not landing many clean punches.

In round two, the older man started well and countered his opponent with a solid right hand.

However, KSI then rocked him with a hard right of his own.

Fournier backed away but KSI pursued him and went to throw a follow-up right hook.

Shockingly though, he accidentally missed with the right hook and instead landed an elbow on Fournier which sent him crashing to the canvas.

The referee did not see this though as it happened in a flash and so Fournier was counted out and KSI was awarded the win.

When asked about the elbow afterwards, the Brit denied it and said: “Nah bro, I hit him with a massive shot and he was dazed, he was scrambling, trying to hold on to me for dear life.

“I was like, ‘Nah, nah, your soul is mine.'”

However, this over-the-top claim has been dispelled by Fournier, who is furious.

Writing on Instagram, he said: “I knew fighting the promoter there would be every angle in his [favour], but to call this a KO instead of a disqualification after an intentional elbow is disgusting!

“We will be appealing this decision Monday and I hope both [KSI and Misfits Boxing, and Professional Boxing Association] do the right thing and show their integrity to the sport of boxing!”

Tommy Fury then entered the ring for a confrontation with KSI and the pair exchanged words before promising to fight later this year.
