In the bucolic heart of Port Credit’s J.C. Saddington Park, bulldozers, dump trucks and other construction vehicles buzzing around the 72-acre site of the neighbouring Brightwater condo community are out of sight and earshot.

But not out of mind. Spanning the park’s central paved plaza, an interactive art installation has been erected by the Port Credit West Village Partners (PCWVP), the consortium of developers behind Brightwater, in collaboration with the Mississauga Arts Council and Arts on the Credit. Designed and painted by locals, the temporary installation’s five hexagonal “Portals” metaphorically highlight how the surrounding neighbourhood will connect with and relate to Brightwater’s 3,000 new residences — give or take — more than 300,000 square feet of new retail, commercial and office space, and 18-plus acres of new parks, paths, beaches and green spaces lining Lake Ontario.

It was no coincidence that the Portals’ August unveiling came soon after the sales launch of Bridge House, the interconnected condo project that followed the launches of the Brightwater I and II condo buildings — five and 14 storeys, respectively — a 106-unit townhome enclave, and the nine-storey Mason midrise.

Together, PCWVP members — the Kilmer Group, DiamondCorp, Dream Unlimited and FRAM+Slokker — PCWVP conceived Bridge House “as a testament to the social connectivity found in Port Credit’s waterfront village,” says Christina Giannone, the consortium’s vice-president of planning and development. “Over the last couple of years, we’ve all realized how lonely life can be without these connections. So we designed a project that provides endless opportunities to connect with and be around your neighbours, family and friends.”
These connections are being supported in different ways. A soon-to-launch Brightwater mobile app is meant to help residents in the loop about social and cultural events to the availability of electric vehicle chargers and the departure times of a community shuttle to the nearby Port Credit GO Station.

Meanwhile, a pair of striking glass-clad bridges will connect the project’s North and South buildings — 15 and 19 storeys — to a shared amenity deck atop the six-storey East building. Spread across the rooftop and the floor below, Bridge House’s amenities include what is said to be Mississauga’s first condo-based rooftop swim spa, lounge seating, and barbecue and dining areas overlooking the lake and surrounding parks, as well as a sauna, fitness centre and co-working space one floor below. “By centralizing amenities on the rooftop it gives everyone the opportunity to take in prime views of Lake Ontario,” Giannone adds.
Ranging from studios to townhouse-style two-bedroom-plus-dens, the 201 units “explore a contemporary, modern and clean design aesthetic,” says interior designer Truong Ly. Most include balconies bordered by frosted glass with transparent cut-aways at the corners. Nine-foot ceilings dominate, except in ground-floor units where they rise to 12 feet. Bathrooms feature soaker tubs surrounded by porcelain or ceramic tile, as well as glass-framed rainfall showers. Kitchens will have built-in appliances, matching quartz countertops and backsplashes, undermount sinks and soft-close cabinetry.

“Bridge House offers a lifestyle that appeals to everyone from young professionals to empty nesters,” Giannone says. “We are seeing that diversity reflected in the purchases that have already been made. People have certain expectations about condo living, and we are working hard to exceed them.”
