Police investigate back-to-back shootings in Huntington Beach, two arrests made – Orange County Register

Two arrests have been made amid investigations into back-to-back non-fatal shootings in Huntington Beach this week, police said.

The first shooting occurred around noon Tuesday, Jan. 17, at the 15000 block of Huntington Village Lane, according to a statement posted on social media  by Huntington Beach Police. A single male victim was identified and transported to a local hospital. An update on his condition was not immediately available.

Around 7 p.m. Tuesday,  30-year-old Norwalk resident Scott Catalano was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, and it is believed he knew the victim, police added.

As of Wednesday evening, Catalano was being held at Orange County Jail on $1 million bail, according to jail records. He is next due in court Thursday, Jan. 19.

A Wednesday shooting occurred shortly after midnight at Murdy Park, according to Huntington Beach Police spokesperson Jessica Cuchilla.

A male victim was transported to a local hospital and is expected to survive, according to Cuchilla. The shooter, whose name and age were not immediately available, was arrested “without incident,” Cuchilla said, adding that there may have been a confrontation between the victim and the shooter prior to the incident.
