After a 40-year career with the Milanese group, 30 years of which he was design director and closest collaborator of Miuccia Prada for the Prada and Miu Miu labels, Fabio Zambernardi will step down from his role in October. FashionNetwork.com has learnt that his departure has been agreed upon amicably and by mutual consent.

Zambernardi began his career at Prada in the 1980s. By the end of the 90s, he was in charge of the footwear division, and was later tasked with coordinating fashion design. He was appointed design director in the early 2000s, overseeing all the divisions of the Prada and Miu Miu labels. Zambernardi’s departure comes a few months after Andrea Guerra took charge as CEO, chosen by Patrizio Bertelli and Miuccia Prada to further boost the group’s growth, with an eye also to a future generational handover.

In H1 2023, Prada recorded a net revenue of €2.2 billion, up 20% at constant exchange rates (and by 17% at current rates). The group’s net income jumped to €305 million, a 62% increase over the €188 million recorded in H1 2022. In 2022, the group reported an annual revenue of €4.2 billion (up 25% at current rates) and a net income of €465 million, up 58%.
