Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s latest demands for King Charles’ coronation

0 37

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are reportedly making demands of King Charles ahead of his coronation before they make the decision to attend the May ceremony, which will likely cause “chaos” on the historic day, says one source.

A palace insider has told OK! Magazine the Sussexes are “pushing for… them to be included with the rest of the family at the Palace later that day.”

Harry and Meghan apparently want to be included on the Buckingham Palace balcony with the rest of the family to greet the public, although this honour traditionally only goes to working royal family members, which the Sussexes are not.

The source says that “it’s also Prince Archie’s birthday on Coronation day so they would like some kind of nod to that at a lunch or drinks reception. Even if it’s just a happy birthday mention.”

The absence of the youngest of King Charles’ grandchildren, Prince Archie, 3, and Princess Lilibet, 1, from the event has “never been a bone of contention,” due to the “restlessness and tantrums” they would likely have as young children.

The palace is reportedly trying to wrap up negotiations as quickly as possible “because they can’t go right up to the wire”.

“It could lead to chaos,” they added.

“It could very well be that it ends in stalemate and they won’t attend. But the palace is doing everything in its power to not let that happen.”

While Archie and Lilibet may not be making an appearance, their cousins, Prince George, 9, Princess Charlotte, 7, and Prince Louis,4 are suspected to be.

Rehearsal plans sighted by The Times have the Wales children listed to be riding in a horse-drawn carriage with their parents, following the newly minted King Charles and Queen Consort Camilla, who will be riding the Gold State Coach following the coronation ceremony.
