Recipes: Simple and ‘useful’ recipes to cook in an air fryer

0 51

Research from Tower Housewares shows that air fryers cook up to 30 percent faster than ovens and use up to 50 percent less energy in the kitchen, saving families up to £210 a year on energy bills. Cooking classic meals in the air fryer can also be simpler and quicker than in the oven, according to experts at Cath Kidston.

From roast chicken to pizza, almost anything can be cooked in an air fryer. Experts at Cath Kidston have shared their favourite recipes that families can try at home.

Boiled eggs

To make the “perfect boiled eggs” in an air fryer, all you need to do is “pop them in the air fryer at 150°C and go about your day while they cook”.

As a guideline, cook them for eight minutes to achieve soft boiled eggs, 10 minutes for medium boiled eggs, and 12 minutes for hard boiled eggs. Cath Kidston experts described the recipe as “practical and useful”.

Tortilla chips

This is another easy recipe to make in an air fryer. Firstly, cut the tortillas into quarters to form triangles.

From there, coat them in spices, place them into the air fryer basket, and cook on 175°C.

The tortillas should cook in the appliance for around seven to nine minutes, or until they begin to brown around the edges.

Serve with cheese, Guacamole, or any other flavoursome dressing.

Method

To make the doughnuts, start by adding the flour, nutmeg, sugar, and salt to a large bowl, and then add the egg, melted butter, and yeast. Mix well.

Knead the dough on a work surface for roughly 10 minutes – it should be smooth to touch.

Transfer the dough to a greased bowl, cover with cling film or a tea towel, and allow to rise for two hours.

Roll the dough out to around one metre thickness before cutting into doughnut shapes. Pop onto some parchment paper, brush with melted butter, and then leave for a further 45 minutes.

Preheat your air fryer to 180°C and grease your basket. When it’s ready, place your doughnuts inside and cook for exactly three minutes.

While they’re getting their bake on, make the glaze by mixing the melted butter, icing sugar, warm milk, and vanilla extract.

Finally, toss the doughnuts in the glaze before serving them to eat.
