An American who recently posted a negative review about a car dealership has been left stunned after the business contacted their father to complain.
The 31-year-old project manager contacted a mechanic at the dealership asking for a quote for a new alternator. They were told it would cost $US2000 ($2889).

After learning this, their father rang for his own quote. He was told it would cost just $US500 ($722).
This prompted the TikToker, who goes by the handle @mountainpromise and shared this story in a TikTok video, to leave a one-star review about their experience with the business, only to have the mechanic contact their father to ask them to take it down.
The TikTok user said following their review the “car dealership texted my dad and asked him to make me take down the one-star review I gave them.”

“I’m 31 years old, and they tattled on me to my father…”
The video has been viewed just under 350,000 times, with many taking issue with the car dealership, which they had sarcastically captioned: “”wOmEn ArE tReAtEd JuSt ThE sAmE aS mEn” #feminism.”
“That’s outrageous! They’re lucky 0 stars don’t exist. Please tell me you edited your review after that?” one commented.
“Get your dad to give them a bad review too, get the whole family in on it” another suggested.
Another wrote: “Give them a second 1 star review about this.”
“Call their mum,” another joked.
One person shared a story about the dealership putting her car in her husband’s name “even though it was my car. I picked it out. I paid for it. I had the job”.
“Businesses treat reviews like they’re negotiable,” another observed. “My review is to keep others from the same fate and I’m not changing them for anything!”
In a follow up video the TikTok user commented on the response the original post has attracted and the many similar experiences their TikTok followers have shared, and they kept on coming.
“My dad raised me & my sisters to be very aware of sexism and not to tolerate it. My dad would have given them a 1 star review to their face,” one person responded to this latest video.
Another shared: “I’m 42. Had to take my cat to the ER Vet on Christmas day. My dad was visiting & came along – VET ONLY SPOKE TO/LOOKED AT MY FATHER.”
