THIS is the moment a group of teens smashes a stolen car into a highway wall before legging it on the busy road – amid a surge in hotwire thefts inspired by a worrying TikTok trend.

All four youngsters were eventually nicked by police while a girl was rushed to hospital after colliding with a black SUV while trying to escape.

The horror incident took place on a busy Interstate in Milwaukee, US, on Saturday and was captured on camera by a police chopper.

The troubled teens veer their stolen Kia Forte into a concrete wall after running over police spikes that deflated their tyres.

It’s believed the incident may be part of a worrying TikTok trend that reveals how to break into Hyundai and Kia vehicles with as little as a USB cable.

Most thefts involve Kia cars newer than 2011 and Hyundai’s newer than 2015 as they don’t have immobilizers and can be accessed through backdoors without setting off alarms.

According to Fox 9, the driver was trying to evade police after running over a police tyre deflation device and slammed into the concrete block.

Footage shows four teens – a boy aged 14, and three girls aged between 15 and 17 – bolting out of the smoking wreck and running up the busy interstate.

One girl is captured running into a black SUV as the gang of alleged thieves turn towards an exit ramp. The two other girls were taken to hospital with minor injuries.

St. Paul Police spokesperson Mike Ernster said cops received a call at 5.30pm on August 6 from a Minneapolis rental company reporting a stolen 2021 Kia Forte.

The car was tracked using GPS to a residential area and when police moved in, the youngsters made off with the vehicle at high speed and were followed by a police chopper and cars. They crashed 15 minutes later.

“Kia Boyz” crimes have been on the up since 2021 when a TikTok trend revealed how to steal cars. Participants would go on to crash or dump them before getting caught by law enforcement.

Wisconsin and Milwaukee have been hit particularly hard by this type of crime. A 70-year-old woman died after a stolen Kia crashed into her car, killing her instantly, according to TwinCities.com.

In May, a member of the “Kia Boyz” gang, Antonio Carter, 19, was accused of pointing a “long gun” at a police officer as he was being arrested, according to WISN.

He had been driving a stolen red Ria at 90 miles per hour in the “wrong lanes of travel”.

These crimes have become so bad that cops have urged Kia and Hyundai car owners to use wheel locks or invest in better security.

And in Ohio, two 14-year-olds were killed when they crashed their stolen Hyundai, according to ABC 6.

Kia said this year in a press release that it was equipping all its new models with an immobiliser.

The statement read: “Kia America is aware of the rise in vehicle thefts of a subset of trim levels. All 2022 models and trims have an immobilizer applied either at the beginning of the year or as a running change.

“All Kia vehicles for sale in the U.S. meet or exceed Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards. Kia customers with questions regarding their Kia vehicle should contact the Consumer Assistance center directly at 1-800-333-4542.”

While Hyundai said: “Hyundai Motor America is concerned with the rise in local auto thefts. The safety and well-being of our customers and the community is and will remain our top priority.
