Chromebooks are starting to explode in popularity in Australia, and there is no shortage of options to choose from. But HPâs Chromebook x2 11 is one of the more premium looking Chromebook devices with great sounding speakers – something that can easily be overlooked.
HP Chromebook x2 11 is available from JB Hi-Fi for $999.
Who is it good for?
As borders start to open back up, travel plans are on the cards for most people after almost two years of travel cancellations and chaos. Enter HPâs Chromebook x2 11, an ultra-portable device that can be taken anywhere you go.
And thatâs the beauty of HPâs Chromebook. If youâre not completely sold on getting an iPad, or already have an Android mobile phone, itâs definitely worth looking this way since youâll get better integration with your phone.
Chromebooks have also become very easy to use and come with access to Googleâs Play Store – which means you wonât be short on the apps this thing can run.
How does it work?

HP Chromebook x2 11 is one of the more expensive Chromebooks on the market right now, but that shouldnât turn you off because itâs also one of the more polished Chromebooks around.
The build quality and design is premium and reminds me of Appleâs iPad Pro and thatâs a big compliment. The 11-inch display is also quite the stunner with a 2K resolution – a first in this field. Another thing to note is the inclusion of a keyboard, rear cover and magnetic smartpen with the device – so you wonât need to shell out any additional money for accessories.
While other reviewers have mentioned that the HP Chromebook x2 11 is âsurprisingly thickâ for a tablet, I actually donât mind this because it made it easier to hold.
Dual front-facing stereo speakers that have been tuned by audio experts Bang & Olufsen are prominent on the sides of the gadget and sound fine for listening to music, watching a movie and doing a video chat.

When it comes to the included keyboard, it feels very nice to use. The only thing that I would point out is there is some flex at times while in use but it doesnât affect operation or performance.
In terms of performance, there were no issues that I faced. I also have a Lenovo Duet Chromebook at home, and the lags and stutters that I sometimes find on that device donât affect HPâs Chromebook.
But after using the Chromebook for over a week, the highlight for me was the battery life. Youâll easily get through a day without needing to charge, which is nice. And when not in use, standby time was excellent. Charging up the device for 30 minutes will give you around 50 per cent too.
Another handy little inclusion, and something that does add to the price, is the ability to connect to 4G LTE networks directly from Chromebook x2 11. While other Chromebooks can already hotspot from your smartphone, itâs not dependent on your phone being around with HPâs offering.
What we think

HP Chromebook x2 11 is a fantastic 2-in-1 Chromebook in many ways.
The inclusion of all the accessories in a nice touch, design, build quality, display and battery life all exceed expectations. This is an âon-the-goâ device and performs that way by providing you plenty of power to get through a full day without needing to charge. And thatâs great.
There may be cheaper options on the market, however, this device is well-rounded, a great performer and long-lasting for daily use. Because of all the extras that you also get with this unit, itâs up there with the best you can get right now.
