The never-ending rivalry between social media stars turned boxers, KSI and Jake Paul, reignited once again on Twitter.
August saw KSI put on a boxing event where he knocked out two opponents in one night, opening the show by stopping rapper Swarmz before beating professional boxer, Luis Alcaraz Pineda.
Prior to the fight, KSI had been very vocal about how his pay-per-view sales were going to crush that of Jake Paul’s, but a recent article in the Daily Mirror suggests otherwise.
The report says KSI’s fight night did 230,000 buys on DAZN in the UK, the Republic of Ireland and the USA.
This is fewer than Paul’s fights against Ben Askren and his first contest with Tyron Woodley, which did over 500,000 buys each. Although, KSI’s fight night has surpassed Paul’s most recent outing against the former UFC welterweight champion, which did 200,000 buys.
Quote tweeting the article, Paul said: “Bull**** aside, the PPV business ain’t easy.
“Congrats to KSI and his boxing company. Those are great numbers. The day we finally settle this, it will break the internet and do some big PPV numbers on Showtime.
“I’m ready as soon as he feels he is.”
Despite Paul’s seemingly humble approach to the situation, this clearly got under KSI’s skin.
“Yeah this is cap,” KSI responded, “I can literally see your numbers and ours. We beat your last fight by a HUGE amount PPV wise.
“Even with your team trying hard to sabotage the event and me having to fight 2 randoms last minute. We are not the same.”
This is in reference to the fact that KSI was supposed to fight Alex Wassabi, who is managed by Paul, but he dropped out last minute due to a concussion.
“If you actually think we tried to ‘sabotage’ your event, then you are dumber than you look,” Paul replied.
“I’m glad you admit they were randoms with no boxing skills though. Honesty comes out in turmoil.
“Again congrats. Now shut up and keep trying to get ready. HUGE hahahaha.”
This was as far as the exchange went, although KSI did finish by clarifying that all figures that do not come from him or DAZN are not correct.
“In terms of PPV numbers or any figures from OUR event, wait on DAZN or me or my manager to tell you the truth,” KSI said.
“Anyone else who talks/tweets about it is literally just trying to get a headline.”
